Glamour Spotlight: Maiming DPS #1

After a long and arduously frustrating journey, I finally got Dragoon to level 60 over the weekend. The class has never really “clicked” with me much at end-game. I found its rigid rotation to be very limiting and irritating at level 50, and leveling it up to 60 just kept making the problem worse, so it took me a couple months of occasionally forcing myself to do some FATEs or the occasional dungeon run to get this one done.

But that’s not what we’re really here to talk about, is it? Once I hit 60, it meant I needed to make my first real DRG glamour. I never had much of one back at 50, most often just simply going with whatever gear I had on. That’s probably in part why the stuff I settled on is largely stuff from ARR that I would have used if I actually played Dragoon back then.

Glamour Components
Head: (none) | Body: Wolfram Cuirass (Pure White Dye) | Hands: Replica Allagan Gauntlets of Maiming (Jet Black Dye) | Legs: Foestriker’s SkirtFeet: Expeditioner’s Thighboots (Jet Black Dye)

I’ve always loved the shape and style of the Cavalry Cuirass from Brayflox’s Longstop, and I’m actually sort of miffed that the other items that use the same model are exclusive to Dragoon. I’d love to have a dyable version of it for my tanks. But since I can’t, I was pretty sure I wanted to use the Wolfram Cuirass for DRG, and from there the rest of the look was pretty easy to put together. The Replica Allagan Gauntlets for DRG have always had the best color scheme, and they look great with the Cuirass, so even though I’m using them on all of the appropriate jobs right now, nothing else was going to complete the look better.

The Foestriker’s Skirt wasn’t my first choice for a leg option (that would have been the Valentione Skirt, in Pure White), but of all the skirt options available, it looked the best. I’m not exactly thrilled to be using the Expeditioner’s Thighboots again, even if they do look good with the rest of the pieces. Dragoon just doesn’t have much in the way of good thighboots (with the next-best option being the Infantry Thighboots—but the purple laces on them would have seemed out of place).

This is one of those glamours that will likely be updated only rarely, since I’ll generally have almost no reason to switch to Dragoon in my day-to-day life, but I’m pretty happy with this look anyhow, so I wouldn’t have much reason to change it in the first place.
