Glamour Spotlight: Gatherers

My next major project is a new Bard/Machinst glamour, but I’m at the mercy of the Random Number Generator as to when I pick up the various pieces of the Wrangler’s set from the new dungeons so I can play around with them. In the mean time, I’ve been somewhat lazily working on my 240 Anima for Ninja and putting most of my energy into the continued process of gearing my DoHs and DoLs in preparation for 3.4.

Last night I finished making the rest of the visible Ironworks Gathering gear, so I needed to get a bit of a look going for that. Given that I rather like the overall aesthetic of most of it, it wasn’t difficult to put together, much like the corresponding Crafting set.

Glamour Components
Head: Mythrite Goggles of Gathering (Jet Black Dye) | Body: Ironworks Vest of Gathering (Jet Black Dye) | Hands: Ironworks Gloves of Gathering (Jet Black Dye) | Legs: Ironworks Slops of Gathering (Jet Black Dye) | Feet: Expeditioner’s Thighboots (Jet Black Dye)

Much as was the case with the Crafting set, I kept most of the pieces here. I really don’t care for the shoes, though, and wanted a decent pair of boots. My preference would have been for the Ironworks Engineer’s Jackboots, but they’re unfortunately non-dyable (though they might work with the Carbonweave set to some degree, since it has grey instead of black). I fiddled for awhile but the simplest ones ended up being the Expeditioner’s Thighboots, as usual.

For the goggles, I would have actually preferred the Crafting version of the same piece, which has silver lenses (as opposed to the gold ones on the Gathering goggles). The Crafting ones have some non-dyable reddish parts, though, which don’t really fit with the rest of the colors here. It’s a very small part, though, so it wasn’t enough to really complement using a similar shade of red for the body or something (though the particular shade is a bit hard to match, anyway, so that still would have been tough). At least there is a bit of gold on the body (a single clasp, but still!) so the gold lenses aren’t completely out of place.

Now that both the Gathering and the Crafting left side sets are done, I’m going to be working on getting the tools and accessories made and melded. In the mean time I’m probably going to play around with different colors for both of them, but to be honest I’m rather fond of the Jet Black look for both sets so I’m not sure I’ll be satisfied with anything else.

Oh, and in unrelated news, Alahra got married on Friday evening, to the ever wonderful Claire Harvey. I won’t leave a barrage of screenshots, but here’s one:

I wasn’t able to get all the screenshots I wanted because my client crashed toward the end of the ceremony, but thankfully there were recordings via PS4, too, so I should be able to get the rest of the ones I needed at some point.

That’s all for today, with any luck, I’ll get to play around with Bard stuff after my Expert run today and have another glamour for later in the week.
