Well, okay, I was wrong last time. I did end up with another glamour this morning, mostly on a whim. A few days ago, after catching up my non-specialist Disciples of the Hand to 3-star crafting requirements, I took the time to grind out the various Master books for them as well, which meant being able to make a large number of Allagan Replicas I didn’t have easy access to before.
For kicks, I decided to make the Replica Heavy Allagan Armor, since it’s one of the few tank bodies I haven’t really played around with glamour wise. Since it’s similar to the Allagan Cuirass of Striking, I thought perhaps I could make a tanking counterpart to my current Ninja glamour, so I started playing around with it in Metallic Silver, along with the Replica Heavy Allagan Flanchard and the Replica High Allagan Gauntlets of Fending (which actually match the original Allagan Armor quite well, despite being from the Second Coil set).
Metallic Silver really wasn’t working, though. The armor seemed far too bulky, and part of what I liked about the Ninja look was how…sleek it seemed, despite relying on something of a heavier centerpiece. Since I’m planning to move toward Dark Knight as my primary tank (for playstyle, even if I’m not a huge fan of the aesthetics and flavor), I decided to see how everything looked in Jet Black, and things clicked much better once I did.
Glamour Components
Head: (none) | Body: Replica Heavy Allagan Armor (Jet Black Dye) | Arms: Replica High Allagan Gauntlets of Fending (Jet Black Dye) | Legs: Protector’s Trousers | Feet: Replica Heavy Allagan Flanchard (Jet Black Dye)
Now, of course, I’m not really sure how long I’ll keep this look, as I’m always skeptical of going all in for black, but after a run of Void Ark (to get a Farthing for a Gobdip, so I could get at least a 210 weapon for DRK), I was fairly pleased with it. Jet Black provides a much better contrast to the gold bits on the armor than Metallic Silver does, and the black also has that visual “slimming” effect, which makes me happier with the Armor itself.
I do think the look needs some sort of head piece to be complete, but I really want to avoid the Allagan Helm (and full helmets in general). I’ve not been able to find anything that I like yet, though, since the Skull Eyepatch doesn’t really fit in with the aesthetics here. I’m always super picky about headgear, though, so I’m not optimistic that I’ll actually find anything.
