Glamour Spotlight: Ranged DPS #6

I’m still trying to figure out exactly what I want with my tank glamour, but meanwhile I’ve starting working on Palace of the Dead with Machinist, since I want to give the class another go. With the pretty generous Tomestone rewards from the Palace, I’ve not actually run any Expert dungeons in about a week, which of course means I’ve yet to acquire the Wrangler’s Jacket. I didn’t care as much for my most recent Aiming glamour for Machinist, so last night I started fiddling around with it again. As usual, I wanted to shoot for something a bit “techie,” but I also didn’t want to spend inordinate amounts of time on this one, so it ended up being a bit “standard.”

Glamour Components
Head: Griffin Leather Blinder of AimingBody: Replica Allagan Cuirass of Aiming (Metallic Silver Dye) | Hands: Ironworks Vambraces of AimingLegs: Lady’s Knicker’s (Black)Feet: Bogatyr’s Thighboots of Aiming

Obviously, I took some inspiration from my current Ninja glamour here, which has proven to have a lot of staying power. The physical DPS Allagan Cuirass is one of my favorite models in the game, and it looks great in Metallic Silver. While there are Aiming versions of all the Scouting/Striking pieces I used for my Ninja glamour, the Aiming Allagan Gauntlets and Eikon Leather Thighboots don’t have the same color schemes, so I needed to find something different. (The Gauntlets have some out of place gray that doesn’t dye, and the Thighboots have gold plating, rather than silver.)

The Ironworks Vambraces are a pretty natural fit for the Allagan Cuirass, and they’ve got just a little bit of technological flair. Unfortunately, the corresponding Ironworks Aiming boots have some undyable blue bits (like most of the Poetics Ironworks pieces), so I couldn’t go with those. The Bogatyr’s Thighboots were the best neutral option I could find (and they happen to share a base model with the Eikon Leather ones). I considered the Griffin leather ones since they’re dyable, but they end up with way too much silver if you dye them, and they look a bit strange dyed black, so the Bogatyr’s won out.

While I love the Griffin Leather Blinder, I would have really preferred to use the Machinist’s Goggles here. Unfortunately, the lenses remain a bright sort of pinkish-orange, which clashes pretty strongly with the white-blue lighting on the Vambraces and doesn’t really jive with the silver in the Cuirass, either. As such, for now, I’m sticking with the Blinder, since the Ironwork’s Engineer’s Goggles don’t /visor the like the Machinist’s ones do.

I was also really hoping to use the Replica Allagan Pistol, but to my disappointment, the whole weapon doesn’t dye. Most of it stays the traditional Allagan bronze color, which means I couldn’t go with Metallic Silver or Jet Black to make it match the body armor, so I’m sticking with the Ironworks Magitek Repeater for now, though it doesn’t quite fit the look the way I would like.
