As I’d mentioned before, since I finished my i260 Scholar Anima stage last week, I wanted to update my healer glamour, in accordance with my usual tradition. At first, I had planned to go with Scholar-specific gear, since it’s the only healer I’ll likely be playing (on the rare occasions I heal) since it should have the best weapon option for the foreseeable future. Once I had the weapon, I pulled out the old Augmented Scholar’s Gown standby and put together something functional (based off of a much older glamour, so I suppose I should still show it off at some point), but it wasn’t really exciting me to be using it again.
So, the next day, I went back to the drawing board. I knew I wanted something that seemed, more or less, professional or scholarly in style, but none of the Scholar stuff was doing the trick for me. I considered the Direwolf/Cashmere Robes of Healing, which were probably my most common glamour centerpieces for healers back in 2.x, but I couldn’t find a pair of gloves that I really liked with them (since I am on record as disliking “puffy” sleeves, I wanted elbow-length gloves, but nothing had the right style).
Other options, like the Arachne Robe or the newer Astral Silk Robe were far too “stuffy” and much heavier than I normally prefer (especially given how light most of my other glamours are right now). After awhile, I came back around to the Storm Lieutenant’s Jacket. I’d used it (very briefly) for a caster glamour after I first got it, but I don’t think I so much as ran a dungeon with it before I had moved on to my current one.
Glamour Components
Head: Reading Glasses (Shadow Blue Dye) | Body: Storm Lieutenant’s Jacket | Hands: Claws of the Beast (Jet Black Dye) | Legs: Astral Silk Bottoms of Healing (Shadow Blue Dye) | Feet: Scion Healer’s Highboots
Naturally, I wanted there to be at least some differences between this one and the caster glamour I used with the Jacket. The Highboots are way too good for Maelstrom themed glamours, so I wasn’t going to use anything else there. That meant the main points of difference would be the leg piece and the hands.
I’ve been using the Jacket for a casual outfit for some time and I generally really like it alongside the Lady’s Knickers (Black), but healers have a better option in the Astral Silk Bottoms, since they’re dyeable. They’ve also got some gold trim that pairs well with the coat itself. The real trick was finding a color to match: none of the grays and blues match the Jacket exactly. Shadow Blue is very close, though, and in most lighting you can’t really tell the difference.
Since I’ve always liked the way the Claws of the Beast look with the alternate combat poses for Scholar and Astrologian (with the way the fingers are spread—yes, I’m odd), I went with those instead of the Strife Gloves. Beyond that, the glamour is more or less the same, just with the glasses dyed a different color to match the Silk Bottoms.
Up next will probably be some older glamours since I’m at another rest period as far as new things go. I’m picking up the Scripture boots for Black Mage this week, but they’re too bulky for my tastes, so I can’t see myself building anything around them.
