Glamour Spotlight: Monk #6

Sometime last week I got a request to put up a new Monk glamour, and while I wasn’t sure I’d be able to come up with anything, I did keep the thought in the back of my mind. Since I play Monk very rarely these days, I only really update its glamour when I get new gear for it (which tends to happen at random intervals), and so I hadn’t really been thinking much about what I wanted to do next. Once the seed was there, though, ideas started bouncing around in my head.

I thought about several pieces I wanted to work with, but I settled on the Ironworks Sollerets of Striking as the starting point. I’ve always liked them but I’ve only rarely used them because of that pesky blue. If I’ve not complained about that blue on other Ironworks glamours here, I’d be really surprised, so I won’t go through that again. Since the blue on the Sollerets doesn’t perfectly match any of the blues in the game, you can only really approximate it in a way that obscures the fact that it’s not a perfect match.

In this case, the best dye happened to be Storm Blue, given the fabrics involved.

Glamour Components
Head: Scintillant Circlet of Striking (Storm Blue Dye) | Body: Augmented Temple Cyclas (Storm Blue Dye) | Hands: Serpentskin Bracers of Striking (Jet Black Dye) | Legs: Lady’s Knickers (Black)Feet: Ironworks Sollerets of Striking

My favorite little tidbit on this one is probably the Serpentskin Bracers. I’ve always liked the style of those gloves, but I’d never found a reason to use them before. It turns out that they reasonably match the blue on the Ironworks boots, though, so they’re a natural pairing here (which is great, because I don’t like the Ironworks gloves from the set).

The rest is a somewhat standard array of Monk choices for me, and this actually goes back a bit to the end of ARR, where I used the Cyclas in Pure White alongside the Sollerets mostly out of laziness, since I didn’t bother to glamour back to the Saurian Boots once I spent the Poetics on them. That look didn’t fully match, of course, but with the Cyclas in blue, it does. The Serpentskin Bracers work better than the Allagan Gauntlets of Striking, too (which were my default back them).

The only other thought I had was to also use the Augmented Temple Circlet, but in the end I couldn’t tear myself away from the Scintillant one. It’s just too perfect with Alahra’s hair!
