I’ve largely fallen out of the habit of doing my daily Frontlines Roulette, since I have most of the various Garo PvP pieces that I think I’ll ever want for glamour. There are probably a few odds and ends I’ll pick up before the collaboration event ends, but they won’t be so expensive that I need to religiously keep up with the roulette. Even so, I’ve enjoyed maintaining separate glamours for PvP—if only because it gives me more excuses to come up with new stuff.
I’ve mentioned a number of times that I’ve been trying to sort out something new for my Ninja PvP glam. I’d long intended to go back to the Chivalric Coat of Scouting, and I spent awhile fiddling with it in Pure White, but I never found a combination that was particularly superior to the last couple times I’ve used the coat for Ninja. So, even though the coat looks great in white, I wasn’t happy with using it again just because. That stalled me for awhile, but this morning I spent a little time and found something else to try in white that was a definite improvement over my last PvP glamour.
Glamour Components
Head: Elegant Rimless Glasses (Jet Black) | Body: Sky Pirate’s Jacket of Scouting (Pure White) | Hands: Augmented Shire Emissary’s Gloves (Jet Black) | Legs: Ramie Trousers of Scouting (Jet Black) | Feet: Songbird Boots (Jet Black)
I’ve used the Sky Pirate’s Jacket before, too, of course, in a very short-lived glamour that carried me into Patch 3.5. At the time, Alahra had been wearing a lot of black, and the best gloves I had access to (the staple Allagan Gauntlets) worked best with the jacket in black. Now that I’m back on a Pure White kick, I find that the jacket looks much better in in that color. The white really lets the black accents on it stand out in a way they couldn’t before, and I’m just really happy with that.
The Shire Emissary’s Gloves also look a lot better than the Allagan Gauntlets did. The gauntlets were a bit heavy for the look, since it was definitely a “leather armor” sort of deal. The gloves work much better alongside the black that stays when you dye the jacket in another color and to boot, they’re long enough to cover the jacket’s puffy sleeves that I don’t like. I swapped glasses from the last look mostly because I’ve soured on the Reading Glasses. As an aside, when was the last time we got a new pair of glasses, anyway? We used to get a pair like every patch!
The other change was to the boots. While I didn’t get a lot out of the Songbird set, the Songbird Boots will probably be my go-to for looks like this one, replacing the Archaeoskin Halfboots. They’re a little less busy, which works better for looks where I’m not particularly trying to draw attention to them. I imagine I’ll still use the halfboots from time to time, but until we get something new in this style, the Songbird ones will probably be the default.
I’m going to be pondering what to do next week over the weekend, of course, but I expect I’ll have another Heavensward Retrospective up since I didn’t get to one this week. With the conclusion of the Main Scenario coming on Tuesday, I’ll likely have some thoughts on the MSQ as a whole to think through, though whether I’ll have that ready by the end of the week is up in the air. There are plenty of other things to talk about, though, and of course, I’m hoping for new gear on Tuesday, too, so I’m sure I’ll figure something out!
