Glamour Spotlight: Casters #19 (Just for Fun)

Once I unlocked Red Mage and got to play around with its combat stance and animations in tandem with the glamours I had worked on prior to the launch of Stormblood, I wasn’t happy with anything I had. I had plenty of ideas for glamours using level 60 gear, but none of those helped at all when the job starts at level 50! The basic glamour I made on launch day wasn’t going to do the trick for me, but I had basically given up on finding anything to last me through 60. So, when I get truly stuck, sometimes I do something I wouldn’t normally do, just to shake things up, and it happened that there was a piece I’d wanted to use for Red Mage for quite some time that I had been resisting since it’s way outside of Alahra’s normal style…

Glamour Components
Head: Songbird Hat (Pure White)
Body: Songbird Jacket (Pure White)
Hands: Warwolf Gloves of Casting (Pure White)
Legs: Songbird Skirt
Feet: High Summoner’s Boots (Pure White)

I’ve wanted to use pieces of the Songbird set since we got them, and I thought they’d be really fun for a Red Mage glamour in particular. The set’s really hard to mix and match with other things, though, and it’s a bit too adorable for Alahra’s normal style. But, I wanted to have a little fun! I ended up using most of the set, so there’s not a lot to say about the individual choices here.

I did try very hard not to use the corresponding hat, though. My general rule is only two pieces from a given set at a time, but I could not for the life of me find something else that I liked alongside the Jacket. The best other options I found were the High House Cloche and the Red-Feathered Flat Hat, but neither one really felt right to me. If I can figure out a good hat for the look, I could actually see myself using it as a more permanent glamour, as I’ve gotten kind of fond of the coattails on the Jacket.

In the end, though, I felt slightly too ridiculous to keep it for the long term for now, and after a few runs of things, I tossed on my last healer glamour, since I like the Scion Adventurer’s Jacket for Red Mage as well, and it was a little less silly. Red Mage is about halfway to 60 now, so when I get there I’m hoping to figure out a more lasting glamour for it (and I have at least one in mind for 68 or so, as well).
