I’ve been planning on doing this one for a little while now, but it took me awhile to collect all of the pieces I needed to play around with from Shisui of the Violet Tides. There are some glamours I do just to mess around, and there are others I would wear and post on the site if I didn’t have some sense of shame. This is one of those glamours, and outside of people who see me in game, I’m reserving it just for you guys.
No doubt any of you following FFXIV stuff on social media or Reddit have seen plenty of screenshots of the various Shisui gear, and truthfully, I’m not especially fond of most of the sets. The overall patterns are nice, but the color selections for most of them are really not my style. The Fending set, however, is grey, black, and red, so I wanted to play around with it since black and red are such good colors on Alahra.
Glamour Components (Required Level: DRK/PLD/WAR 63)
Head: Ghost Barque Circlet of Fending (Dalamud Red) | Body: Shisui Joi of Fending
Hands: Leonhart Gloves | Legs: Shisui Kohakama of Fending | Feet: Scion Healer’s Highboots
While I certainly won’t keep this glamour forever, I think there’s a decent chance I’ll use it for awhile before I hit 70 on Paladin. I actually rather like the overall cut of the top, and if the Kohakama had tails like the Healing ones do, I might actually consider this as a more standard glamour. As they are, they’re slightly too scandalous for permanent use (especially for tanks!) but for a little fun I don’t mind them at all.
I went with the Ghost Barque Circlet over the Shisui Mengu since Alahra has always looked a little strange with flowers in her hair (probably due to it being lopsided, I suppose). The boots are of course fairly standard for any look that has red in—I can’t hide that I love them anymore, so why bother? Gloves proved tricky; I didn’t like the color of the Shisui ones, but I wanted to make sure to keep the flowing sleeves of the Joi visible. The Leonhart Gloves aren’t perfect but they fit in well enough (and they’re of a black similar to the boots, which makes the boots fit better).
Now all that remains is to see just how long it takes for my sense of shame to take hold, forcing me to go back to something more tank-appropriate!
