Glamour Spotlight: Ninja #9

While I was on vacation, I scrolled past some great artwork of the new Ninja Artifact Armor in Stormblood, which gave me a nagging need to go back to it. I’ve been pretty happy with my last look for Ninja, and the first attempt I made at using the Kage-kakushi Chaimail didn’t really turn out the way I liked, so I hadn’t thought much about it since moving away from it. Seeing it again reminded me of how gorgeous it is, though, and after getting home, I started playing around with a better way to make it work.

Glamour Components (Required Level: NIN 70)
Head: Scintillant Circlet of Scouting (Dalamud Red)
Body: Antiquated Kage-kakushi Chainmail
Hands: Ghost Barque Long Gloves of Scouting
Legs: Ghost Barque Bottoms of Scouting (Jet Black)
Feet: Ghost Barque Open-Toed Boots of Scouting

I knew I wanted the overall style of the look to be the same as what I went for last time, as that’s more or less been Alahra’s staple for Ninja glamours going all the way back to the very beginning of this site. I needed to find different accompanying pieces, though, as most of the pieces I used last time had started to bug me in one way or another. The Doman Steel Gauntlets and Lady’s Knickers were the wrong shade of black, and the Tigerskin Thighboots just seemed to be the wrong style to go along with the exotic body piece.

By now my love affair with the Star Velvet set for casters has been well-documented (and that’s just the most recent Star Velvet glamour—perusing the Casters category will show several different times I’ve used pieces of it), so it’s probably no surprise that I’ve been itching to use the new Scouting version of the set somehow. I would have done so a long time ago, but the legs on the Scouting set have the shorter leggings like the Star Velvet Bottoms of Healing, as opposed to the longer flared ones in the Casting set. That makes them a lot harder to use, since the main reason I like the set is because of the flare on the Bottoms.

But given the default colors in the Ghost Barque set, they do work pretty well alongside the Chainmail. The set as a whole also has a bit of exotic flair to it, which addresses some of my issues with the last look for the Chainmail, which had too many disparate styles. Normally, of course, I try to avoid using three pieces of the same set, but sometimes it’s what works best. With the Long Gloves in place, the best boots to pair really did seem to be the Ghost Barque ones, and those paired best with the Bottoms given the overall style.

Now, the real test with this is that I haven’t used it much. I’ve not gotten a lot of opportunities to actually play since coming home, and I’ve mainly been sticking to Red Mage for my Experts as it’s generally smoother on the various bosses than running melee. I do think this look has the potential to last for a while, though, and I have to admit it feels really nice to be back in proper Ninja attire.
