Glamour Spotlight: Ninja #10

I’ve always had a soft spot for the Iga Ningi, as regular readers undoubtedly know, but I’ve also had long-running frustrations with it. It’s a lovely but difficult piece to use, as there has always been something missing in terms of companion pieces that I can’t quite put my finger on. That hasn’t stopped me from continually trying to perfect its use, though, and lately I’ve had the itch to work with it again, curious to see whether anything from Stormblood will finally complete the look for me. While I don’t think I quite got to a perfect look, I do have what ended up being an update to an older look that I’m pretty happy with.

Glamour Components (Required Level: NIN 68)
Head: Scion Rogue Bandana
Body: Iga Ningi
Hands: Molybdenum Armguards of Scouting (Jet Black)
Legs: Warwolf Kecks of Striking (Jet Black)
Feet: Kirimu Sandals of Scouting (Jet Black)

The main drive behind this one was the Molybdenum Armguards. I’ve been wanting more good pairs of elbow length arm gear for Ninja for a very long time, as one of the trickiest parts of the Ningi are its sleeves, since they dye a bit poorly. They fit in really well with it, and I’ve been meaning to use them for quite some time but never gotten around to it. They even work in Pure White to some degree, but the trouble with a Pure White Ningi is finding leg gear that I like with it, since my normal Warwolf Kecks stay mostly black.

I cast around for awhile in search of something new for everything below the waist, but I didn’t have much luck. I’m still very much frustrated that Ninja didn’t get some version of the Makai Quartertights, as they’d be absolutely perfect. The Lady’s Knickers (Black) don’t match the shades of black in the Ningi, and the Expeditioner’s Pantalettes come with undyeable brown that really sticks out.

Of course, even if Ninja did have the Quartertights, finding a pair of boots that work with the Ningi is tricky, too. My favorite pair are the Saurian Boots, but they don’t especially work with the Armguards. So, for now, I’m back to the Kecks and Sandals combo, which look great together. For the final piece, the Scion Rogue Bandana, which I’ve been using for a couple other classes, fits in really well with the scarf on the Ningi to complete the look and make for a good Stormblood update to it, paired with the Armguards.

We’re a week away from Patch 4.1 now, which will hopefully bring lots of great new options. As of writing, I’ve only seen the new dungeon gear, of which I’m not a huge fan, but it might surprise me in game. I’m really hoping for armor sets based off of the Final Fantasy Tactics sprites for Return to Ivalice, which I think I could have a glamour field day with. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
