I’ve been mainly playing Ninja again over Samurai, having really started to miss it after finishing out the Striking Creation gear I wanted to get. I picked up the Lost Allagan weapon for Ninja last week and I’ll be grabbing the body piece this week, which will probably mean a new glamour (since I do generally like the look of that piece). As often happens after I switch back to the Iga Ningi, though, I ended up wanting something different relatively quickly.
At first, I simply went back to my final Heavensward glamour, since I found myself nostalgic for that old look, though I dyed the Augmented Shire Emissary’s Jacket Dalamud red for something slightly different. I’d forgotten just how great it looks on Alahra, honestly, and after running around with it for a few days, I decided to try for another look with it. As a starting off point, I got out the old Yoshimitsu Nexus again, as I was getting a little tired of using the Sasuke’s Blades all the time, which made the process relatively straightforward.
Glamour Components (Required Level: NIN 60)
Head: Scion Rogue Bandana
Body: Augmented Shire Emissary’s Jacket (Grape Purple)
Hands: Augmented Shire Emissary’s Gloves (Jet Black)
Legs: Ramie Trousers of Scouting (Jet Black)
Feet: High House Halfboots
I know I said not long ago I was starting to drift away from the Scion Rogue Bandana, but the lie detector determined that was a lie, I guess. It works really well with the Shire Jacket, which has just enough black on it for the pairing. With the Yoshimitsu Nexus primarily being purple and black outside of the glow, I went with Grape for the body, as Currant looked too dark this time. Once I did that, I thought back to the old Arhat’s set from Final Fantasy XI and got especially nostalgic. I’ve long wanted to create a look patterned after it to some degree, but thus far we haven’t gotten a body piece that really works.
I went with the Ramie Trousers as the closest match to the common Hakama/Sitabaki model from FFXI, and from there, the High House Halfboots were more or less the best choice. I’m still somewhat baffled that we have almost nothing like the various martial artist sets from FFXI in FFXIV. I keep hoping that Stormblood will add something, but so far there hasn’t been much at all. Even the FFXIV Arhat gear is more or less a completely different style. For now, this look captures a lot of what I liked about the Arhat’s gear, but I’m still crossing my fingers for 4.2!
