Glamour Spotlight: Casters #27 (All Saints’ Wake 2017)

All Saints’ Wake has consistently been the best seasonal event in FFXIV for glamour items (which is part of the reason I do glamours for it and don’t generally for the other events). This year’s set is the latest great piece in the series of All Saints’ Wake sets, and I’m sure I’ll get more glamours out of it (if not this year, then next year!). Of course, since we’ve got so many nice things to play with for the holiday, that means I don’t have to restrict the season’s glamours to just the latest thing.

Last year, I had a lot of fun with the Vampire’s Vest, and ever since we got Red Mage, I’ve been looking forward to how I might use it for a caster glamour again, since the vest is just such a perfect fit. While working out how best to use it, I actually ended up with a lot of ideas (some using other All Saints’ gear, too), some of which I think I’m going to use for a healer glamour. For now, though, here’s where I ended up for casters:

Glamour Components (Required Level: BLM/RDM/SMN 1)
Head: Scion Rogue Bandana
Body: Vampire’s Vest (Sunset Orange)
Hands: Witch’s Gloves (Jet Black)
Legs: Common Makai Priestess’s Skirt
Feet: Witch’s Thighboots (Jet Black)

Last year I heavily considered using the Vest in Sunset Orange since it has that perfectly seasonal orange and black color scheme with that dye, but I ended up not going that route because of how great the Vest looks in its default colors and in Jet Black. This year, though, having already done both of those colors last time, I got to play around with it in orange instead. The Witch’s Gloves and Thighboots were natural choices here, of course, given the orange ribbons (and my love for tall boots and elbow gloves, too, naturally).

The tricky part was deciding what Legs piece to go with, and I considered several. The Valentione Skirt gave some orange and black as well (and I considered using it with shorter boots to show off the striped tights), but overall I felt it gave the look too much color. The Eerie Tights might have worked for a purple look (and I very nearly went that route), and the Songbird Skirt wasn’t a bad fit either (though it was harder finding a good color scheme with that one). The Makai Priestess’s Skirt ended up working best because of how it’s similar in texture to the boots.

I’m still sort of stuck on the Scion Rogue Bandana I suppose, so I kept it. I considered looking for a good hat, but the best option probably would have been the Antiquated Duelist’s Chapeau. We still can’t dye that, so it wasn’t going to fit in with the colors on the rest of the outfit. I like the Bandana for All Saints’ Wake looks anyway, so I’m not especially bent up about still using it (but after the holiday I might try to find something new to use, or just go back to glasses).
