I’ve been running Drowned City of Skalla a few times a week (sometimes even outside of Expert Roulette) to collect the various body pieces, and as I’ve mentioned a few times, my luck has been purely awful. So far, I’ve managed to get the Maiming body (when I don’t even have Dragoon at 70 >.>) and (finally) the Scouting body piece (which I’ve not gotten around to using because it sadly clips through Alahra’s hair). I’ve got my eye on the Striking body next, as I think it’ll work very well for Samurai, and I’ve been using Samurai for Expert runs as a result. I’ve not seen it yet, but I have gotten one of the other pieces of the set that I like, and I decided to put that to use.
Glamour Components (Required Level: MNK/SAM 70)
Head: Elegant Rimless Glasses (Jet Black)
Body: Scion Adventurer’s Jacket (Jet Black)
Hands: Claws of the Beast (Jet Black)
Legs: Skallic Bottoms of Striking (Jet Black)
Feet: Expeditioner’s Thighboots (Jet Black)
I’ve been pondering a more “every day” look for Samurai for a little while now, something Alahra might wear at home, since I imagine that most of her actual connection to Samurai has more to do with practicing bladework as a hobby than it does with any real adventuring. My last Striking glamour had something of that feel, but it was still rather suitable for expeditions and the like.
As luck would have it, I got the Skallic Bottoms of Striking a little while ago, and I rather liked the shorts on them, preferring them greatly to the Makai Manhandler’s Quartertights I’ve otherwise been using for that style of leg gear. I knew right away that I wanted to use them somehow. They even have stockings! (though I think I’m going to need the Skallic Jacket to make those work out). Were my Monk level 70, I think I’d be able to come up with something using them and the Augmented Temple Cyclas, but since I’ve only got Samurai to work with for now, I had to go a different route.
After I got the Bottoms, I spent quite awhile trying on different body pieces with them, and ultimately, I really liked the way they paired with the Scion Adventurer’s Jacket. That’s a piece I’d been considering for a Samurai glamour for awhile in the back of my mind, so I decided to roll with it (knowing that the glamour would probably be somewhat temporary). The rest of the pieces were more or less auto includes after I made that decision, though I did consider going with the jacket in red alongside (what else?) the Scion Healer’s Highboots.
I’m hoping to get the Skallic Jacket sometime this week so I can put together a new Samurai glamour around that, so this one may not last too awful long. I’ll also need to put together new glamours for all of the ones I did All Saints’ Wake glamours for. Ninja will likely be my first target for that, as I don’t play the other ones regularly enough that it will bother me greatly).
