Glamour Spotlight: Healers #26

When I put together my most recent glamour for healers in preparation for leveling Astrologian, I didn’t go through the trouble of porting the glamour over to my level 70 healer gear (mostly because I forgot, to be honest). That did mean I had an opportunity to work on a new glamour, though, since otherwise my Scholar was still wearing the getup I put together for All Saints’ Wake. I also had a few ideas (which always helps!). Firstly, I still hadn’t managed to use the Serge Gambison of Healing, and secondly, I’d also never used the Halonic Priest’s Gloves and Thighboots, despite having used the casting equivalents several times (and a couple times recently, even).

I started off working with all three pieces together, with the thought of doing a sort of palette swap of my last glamour for Red Mage. The Halonic Gloves have just a bit of a sort of Rolanberry Red, so the natural choice was to go with the Serge Gambison in that color (much like I had used Woad Blue for the Red Mage look). I couldn’t copy that look entirely, though, as the Falconer’s Bottoms don’t really work for me in brown or red, which they’d have needed to be to match the healing version of the Gambison, which dyes very differently from the casting one. I ended up striking out on that version of the look, as I couldn’t find a suitable option for the legs shot.

I did, however, realize that the Gambison has a pretty nice default color scheme even if it doesn’t dye as nicely as the casting one does. The idea of playing off of the green scarf appealed to me, and so I set to work on putting together a look with that in mind.

Glamour Components (Required Level: AST/SCH/WHM 68)
Weapon: Hyperconductive Tetrabiblos (Replica)
Head: Elegant Rimless Glasses (Nophica Green)
Body: Serge Gambison of Healing
Hands: Gazelleskin Bracers of Healing (Kobold Brown)
Legs: Cashmere Skirt of Healing (Deepwood Green)
Feet: Expeditioner’s Thighboots (Kobold Brown)

Once I had the idea, the rest of the glamour came together very quickly. The Expeditioner’s Thighboots fit the style of the Gambison quite well, and they have just a bit of orange on them, which pairs up nicely with the orange on the Gambison’s belt, too. I knew I wanted just a hint of green for the legs piece, and the Cashmere Skirt was the very first thing that popped into my head (I did try the look with the Makai Quartertights, but I thought the Skirt blended more nicely). The glasses of course were pre-ordained.

The only piece that really gave me trouble was the gloves. I’ve never really been a fan of the Expeditioner’s Gloves (they’re just so awkwardly small!), and I didn’t like the way the Marid Leather Gloves worked in Kobold Brown (to match the boots). Being as picky about gloves as I am, my options were fairly limited. I considered the Saurian Gloves of Healing, which have been a decent go-to for a long time, but the white on them seemed quite out of place. The Ala Mhigan Fingerless Gloves of Healing very nearly made the cut, but ultimately I settled on the Gazelleskin Bracers instead, since they matched the Thighboots best.

This is one of those looks that I probably won’t actually use much, since I almost never play Scholar these days (I’ve taken to using Dark Knight to skip queue times if it’s necessary). I feel a little sad about that though, as the more I look at it, the happier I am with it, and I’m surprised it took me this long to make something work with the Healing Gambison.
