Glamour Spotlight: Healers #28

Being without a computer for a week really derailed most of my glamour plans and progress toward various in-game goals, and I went into the planning stage for my next post with no clue what I was going to post! The first thing that came to me was to rework Alahra’s Samurai glamour, but in order to do that I really need to pick up the Skallic Jacket of Striking, which has continued to elude me despite some unknown number of runs of Patch 4.1’s sole dungeon on Samurai (and I’ve not seen it drop when I’m on any other classes either).

I also wanted to work out a new healer glamour, since my last one was more something I had done just to experiment, but the main idea I had for healers also involved gear from the Drowned City of Skalla that I hadn’t acquired yet. Sometimes, though, inspiration strikes in the strangest moments. As I was getting ready to turn in for the night, I suddenly remembered an idea I’d gotten a few weeks prior before my PC blew up and threw everything into chaos.

Glamour Components (Required Level: AST/SCH/WHM 50)
Weapon: (AntiquatedElements
Head: Elegant Rimless Glasses (Ul Brown)
Body: Scion Liberator’s Jacket
Hands: (Replica) High Allagan Gloves of Healing
Legs: (Replica) High Allagan Pantaloons of Healing
Feet: Songbird Boots

I tend to keep the High Allagan Pantaloons in the back of my mind whenever we get new pieces of gear, since I’ve always loved them but only rarely found excuses to use them. Any time we get something new with red in it, I make a mental note to see how it combines with them, and naturally, the Scion Liberator’s Jacket was no exception. It’s no secret by now that I’ve become incredibly fond of it for Alahra, and I’ve been looking for ways to use it that don’t also involve the Scion Liberator’s Pantalettes to mix things up a bit.

Of course, with the Pantaloons’ best feature being their flared pants legs, I wanted a pair of shoes rather than boots. In the past, I’ve usually gone with the Archaeoskin/High House Halfboots, but when I put them on this time I couldn’t help but notice how their leather texture clashed a bit with the Pantaloons. The buckles on the front also seemed to stand out in a bad way, and both of those things together was enough for me to look for a substitute. My first thought was to use the Far Eastern Matriarch’s Boots, since they have some gold on them, but the shade wasn’t a good fit for the pants. I thought about the Faire Zori, too, but I ultimately decided that the sandals look didn’t work either. The Songbird Boots ended up being the most plain, but that also meant they were a good choice to avoid clashing.

The other pieces didn’t require much: the Elegant Rimless Glasses are a Scholar staple for Alahra, and in order to solidify the presence of the other High Allagan piece in the glamour, I decided to use the corresponding Gloves, too. If I have one gripe about the full look, it’s that the leather on the Jacket is brown, but I like the overall profile so much that it doesn’t really bother me. I do think it’ll make running Skalla on Scholar a little more entertaining, and hopefully my luck improves quickly so I can finally get around to finishing the rest of the Skalla glamours I want to try!

This post comes by request of one of this site’s patrons on Patreon, Curious Usagi, who wanted to see a new healer glamour. If you’d like to make requests yourself, either for the monthly Patron-Only Glamour Spotlight or for the site in general, you can contribute to Fashion Ninjutsu’s Patreon.
