Patrons Only Spotlight #7: Healers

I mentioned in the intro to the Patreon-side version of the last spotlight that I had my idea for this month’s Patron Only special. And I did! That was true! I’ve been sitting on the Skallic Bottoms of Healing for weeks now (one of the few times I’ve actually gotten a piece I wanted from that gods-forsaken dungeon), and I’ve really been itching to use them. After all, what’s not to love about a skirt and stockings for a healer glamour? I got to work yesterday morning to build something around them, starting out with a pairing I’ve gotten pretty fond of: the Skallic Bottoms with the Far Eastern Beauty’s Boots, both in Pure White.

Try as I might, though, I couldn’t find a single body piece that I liked with the skirt (outside of the Skallic Jacket, probably, which still eludes me). I loved the overall profile of the Scion Adventurer’s Jacket with the skirt on the Bottoms from behind, but they didn’t really work together from the front, as the Skallic piece has gold accents which clashed with the silver ones on the Jacket. Other similar jackets, like the Wyvernskin Jerkin, didn’t play along in terms of dyes, and most other body options covered the skirt, which was simply unacceptable.

That left me at a bit of a loss as to how to use the Skallic Bottoms, but in the process I found another combination I really liked: the Scion Adventurer’s Jacket with the Makai Moon Guide’s Fingerless Gloves. I’ve always rather liked the Makai Gloves, but I’ve struggled to find good uses for them with anything other than the Makai Moon Guide’s Gown, so this new possibility really intrigued me.

Glamour Components (Required Level: AST/SCH/WHM 60)
Weapon: (Augmented) Ironworks Magitek Cane
Head: Reading Glasses
Body: Scion Adventurer’s Jacket (Pure White)
Hands: Makai Moon Guide’s Fingerless Gloves (Pure White)
Legs: Cashmere Skirt of Healing (Pure White)
Feet: Griffin Leather Boots of Healing (Pure White)

It took me hours to figure everything out, though! I knew that, since I was going all in on Pure White for both the Jacket and the Gloves, I’d most likely also want to go white for both the boots and whatever I ended up choosing for the leg piece. Glamours in full white are often really hard to pull off (at least for me—I see plenty of them that I like on other people’s characters that never seem to work for Alahra), but thankfully over the course of Heavensward and moving into Stormblood, we’ve gotten some good general purpose options for those kinds of things.

Both the Far Eastern Beauty’s Boots and the High Summoner’s Boots work really well in Pure White, which can’t be said for a lot of other boots in the game. The Songbird Boots are also pretty nice, as are the High House Halfboots. I’ve featured all of these (except for maybe the Songbird Boots) in Pure White glamours before, and I was sure that one of them would work for this. Honestly, all of them worked in various ways, but the problem was finding a good option for the Legs slot that also worked in Pure White.

That’s not to say I didn’t have choices, of course. The Miqo’te Loincloth, Songbird Skirt, Valentione Skirt, and even the Skallic Bottoms of Healing all work just fine in Pure White. The problem is that they almost require thighboots, since, outside of the Miqo’te Loincloth, the stockings for all of them are off-white (or in the case of the Valentione Skirt, striped, which just makes them look odd in most combinations). The closest I got to a workable look with the stockings and knee boots look was with the High Summoner’s Boots and the Miqo’te Loincloth (since at least those tights actually dye alongside the skirt), but there was a major profile mismatch that I couldn’t get past.

Ultimately, as you can see from the pictures, I elected to go in a slightly different direction and pull out the Griffin Leather Boots again, which are a pair I’ve always been very fond of but found very few opportunities to use. I have a minor gripe for them in that the brown leather on the front doesn’t go away with dye  (which dilutes the otherwise pure black and white kit going on here), but they otherwise look great with the Jacket for a sort of cosmopolitan or vaguely modern look, which for whatever reason, has been something of a running theme for Alahra’s healer glamours for a long time.
