Glamour Spotlight: Ninja #12

I acquired the Anemos Kage-Kakushi Chainmail not long after I put together my Scorpion Harness glamour for Ninja, so it didn’t last all that long. As you might expect, I wanted put the dyeable Artifact Armor to use right away, and of course I had Pure White on my mind. The Chainmail dyes fairly well that way, with only a little bit of the pesky metallic white to contend with. It’s definitely a piece that demands an entirely white glamour, though, and as of writing I’m just not sure where to go with that just yet. Most of the other things I’ve done with the Stormblood Chainmail don’t immediately translate into Pure White from Jet Black, as a lot of the pieces I’ve used lose the red they have when dyed Pure White.

Of course, I’ve long had similar trouble with the Iga Ningi, which I love in Pure White but have only rarely managed to make work in that color. The Kage-Kakushi Chaimail is far more ornate than the Ningi, which likely means it’s going to be even more difficult to work with in the long term, but that won’t mean I’m not going to give it my best shot! For now, though, I decided to stick with the default color scheme on the Chainmail since I know it works.

Glamour Spotlight (Required Level: NIN 70)
Weapon: Nagi Anemos (Pure White)
Head: Elegant Rimless Glasses (Dalamud Red)
Body: Anemos/Antiquated Kage-Kakushi Chainmail
Hands: Ala Mhigan Fingerless Gloves of Scouting (Dalamud Red)
Legs: Werewolf Bottoms (Jet Black)
Feet: Scion Healer’s Highboots

My starting point for this one, which was largely meant to be functional rather something especially new, was my last Ninja-specific glamour, which paired the Iga Ningi with the Werewolf Bottoms. I’ve grown pretty fond of the Werewolf Bottoms as a good adventuring skirt, and since they’re dyeable, I’ve been able to use them a lot more readily than the Guardian Corps Skirt which I’ve often used in the past when aiming for similar styles. With the body and legs pieces out of the way, I experimented a bit to see if I wanted to use any different accompanying pieces, but ultimately didn’t deviate too far from the starting point aside from changing colors as necessary.

The Highboots were naturally a solid pick, given the black and red on the Chainmail. I haven’t actually used the two together yet, since I’ve normally favored the Tigerskin Thighboots of Scouting instead. I thought about the Ghost Barque Open-Toed Boots, too, since I also considered the Ghost Barque Long Gloves. With the Werewolf Bottoms, I thought the more modern style of the Highboots seemed a better fit than both of those other options, though.

The toughest choice ended up being the gloves. I generally prefer longer gloves with the Kage-Kakushi Chainmail, since I’m not a huge fan of the patterns on the right sleeve. I didn’t like the Ghost Barque pieces with the Werewolf Bottoms, though, and the Shire Emissary’s Gloves clipped through the left shoulder plate a bit, which I didn’t like. The Replica Allagan Gauntlets of Striking didn’t really blend in very well, either. So, in terms of colors, the Ala Mhigan gloves seemed to be the best fit. They’re shorter, and the metal on them isn’t a perfect match, but they work well enough that I can overlook most of that.

Of course, this one’s meant to be temporary, and I’m definitely thinking about where to go with the look to make it work with Pure White. I think the Spring Bottoms, which I finally got recently, might work well (and I think they could work well with the Iga Ningi, too, actually). Gloves and boots are really tricky for Ninja in white though, since so many of the best options simply look best in black. I’d really like to get something figured out, though!
