Glamour Spotlight: Warrior #4

Lynahra never hit 60 during Heavensward, mainly because I tried to cram all of her progress in at once in the last four or five months. I think she got to the Vault before I gave up and talked my SO into picking up Main Scenario potions so that we could just grind out the rest of the levels in dungeons, which turned out to be a mistake: not having the Armory bonus makes that grind long. Once Stormblood hit, progress remained slow, since she spent a long time struggling to find her main job. Eventually, though, I settled on Warrior, and we decided to dedicate one day a week toward progress on our alts to allow for steady, incremental progress.

We hit 70 the weekend before last, and this most recent one, we wrapped up the 4.0 Main Scenario (I still hate the Shinryu fight >.>). Of course, I’d been waiting for a very long time to experiment with the new Warrior Artifact Armor for Stormblood, with it seeming to be something of a natural fit for Lynahra. As usual with these things, I didn’t care much for most of the set, but I did rather like the body for its slim profile, which works well for a miqo’te.

Glamour Components (Required Level: WAR 70)
Weapon:
Bravura Atma (Replica)
Head: Pagos Bandana
Body: (Antiquated) Brutal Lorica
Hands: Sky Rat Hook of Fending (Wine Red)
Legs: Lady’s Knickers (Black) / Scion Healer’s Halftights
Feet: Scion Healer’s Highboots

As it turns out, I didn’t have to deviate too far from Lynahra’s last glamour. Certain elements of that one now feel like they’re approaching canon for her, particularly the Pagos Bandana, which I think is going to function for her much the way that glasses now do for Alahra. She simply looks strange to me without it now, so I don’t see myself moving away from it anytime soon (unless we get something similar in a different pattern that works better down the line).

Similarly, I had a really difficult time replacing the Sky Rat Hook. She’s been using Sky Rat gloves on her tank glamours for a long time now, most especially alongside the Sky Rat Harness (which obviously got replaced by the Brutal Lorica here). While I don’t know that they’re exactly canon, they’re pretty close to it, and they tend to work very well alongside the red color schemes I favor for her. In this case, a darker red better matched the reds of the Lorica, with just the hint of orange on the Hook matching the body’s waistband.

With a red and black body piece, the Scion Healer’s Highboots were here to stay as well, and I think they will likely be Lynahra’s default even more than they are for Alahra until we get something with a similar color scheme that fits her more rugged nature. The one area where I had to make a change proved to be the Legs slot—the Guardian Corps Skirt didn’t mesh so well with the Lorica, and I definitely wanted something black to go with it. I would have most preferred something like the Expeditioner’s Pantalettes, but I wasn’t a fan of the accompanying leather straps next to the Lorica’s black, so I settled instead on the plain Lady’s Knickers.

This proved to be the perfect glamour to capstone 4.0 for her—with the core look maintained from her previous glamour, it felt like she had finally “leveled up” to a full-fledged character in her own right. It may also be her last Warrior glamour, since my current plan is for her to pivot to Gunbreaker after the launch of Shadowbringers. I’ve never completely clicked with Warrior mechanically, which is why Lynahra has spent so much time job-hopping over the last few years. It’s my hope that Gunbreaker will click better for me, since it’ll also allow me to add in a bit of that engineering flair Lynahra is supposed to have that I’ve not been able to capture properly in FFXIV. On that note, I’m in the planning stages for her first Gunbreaker glamour, and I’ll hopefully have that up soon!
