Glamour Spotlight: Maiming DPS #7

For a couple weeks now, I’ve been focused pretty exclusively on finishing gear set galleries for the initial round of dungeons in Shadowbringers. That’s meant a lot of leveling dungeons and not a ton of time to sit around and glamour. I’m getting into the home stretch, though! As far as getting one of every armor class to level 80, I’ve only got Dragoon left to go, and I’ve collected just about every full set from the dungeons (with just a few for Dragoon that I’ll finish along the way!). So, for my sanity, I decided I could take a little extra time for a Dragoon glamour before continuing onward!

I’d been using my last tank glamour for a lot of my leveling lately, since all of the pieces had no job requirements and applying it as a glamour plate makes things rather simple so I can keep going. I definitely didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to play around with Dragoon’s version of the Voeburtite Jacket, though, so when I hit 73 on it recently, I had to take that much needed glamour detour.

Glamour Components (Required Level: DRG 73, Female)
Weapon: Augmented Scaevan Magitek Spear (Ceruleum Blue)
Head: Reading Glasses (Ceruleum Blue)
Body: Voeburtite Jacket of Maiming
Hands: Doman Iron Gauntlets of Maiming
Legs: Guardian Corps Skirt
Feet: Dravanian Greaves of Maiming

Naturally, I anticipated loving the Jacket much like I loved the Fending version, and thanks to my original glamour with that one, I had some idea of where I wanted to go. Glasses were a given, of course—I’ve more or less given up on using anything but those for Alahra, since she’s worn them so long that nothing else looks right. The main differences were going to be colors, but as it turns out, Dragoon has versions of the gauntlets and greaves I used for tanks that already match their version of the Voeburtite Jacket.

Originally, I assumed I was going to be using the Doman Iron pair, probably dyed silver, since I remembered them as being silver and black, which seemed perfect. My memory wasn’t wholly incorrect, but neither piece dyed quite like I thought they would. Fortunately, though, the Gauntlets, without dye, actually have some nice blue accents that work just about perfectly with the blue sleeves on the Jacket. The Doman Iron Greaves, however, don’t have that, so I had to go digging a bit. I didn’t have to go far, though! The Dravanian Greaves, another version of the same model, also have blue, and the shades across all of the pieces are close enough to work in practice.

For the final piece, I wanted to do something different than the black skirts I used for tanks. In terms of color scheme, the look reminded me a lot of one of my favorite Heavensward-era tank glamours, and that got me to try out the Guardian Corps Skirt. Something about the colors here makes that choice work in a way that it didn’t with the Voeburtite Jacket of Fending, even though I’ve often used Lightning’s skirt with other red and black looks.

All in all, much like my Voeburtite tank glamour, I expect this one to last all the way through to 80 on Dragoon. which I’ll hit in a week or so, ideally. As long as I’m done in time to have the last dungeon gear set from 5.0 posted before 5.1, I’ll be happy, though!
