After putting together my last glamour for Bard and Machinist and swiftly growing quite fond of it, I suppose I couldn’t help but be a little curious about the Anemos Jacket again. Like I mentioned before, I’ve never much liked how this stripped down version of the jacket dyes, with a particular dislike for the way the undershirt seems to end up washed out compared to the bolder color of the jacket itself on the model. That’s kept me from giving it a serious go in a glamour ever since I picked up the 2B coffer from The Copied Factory.
At the same time, though, I’ve been floundering for weeks trying to figure out a solid top to go alongside 2B’s leggings and boots for my Dark Knight glamour. I’ve tried so many different body pieces that I don’t think I can even remember all of them to list, from elegant pieces, light pieces like the Eastern Socialite’s Cheongsam to somewhat heavier armor like the Augmented Hellfire Mail of Fending. I’ve even been using wholly nonsensical things like the Summer Indigo Shirt and Hannish Wool Autumn Shirt (the latter of which has been my default for the last couple weeks).

But what I’ve really wanted the whole time was something in leather, almost more suited for a job like Ninja than Dark Knight. Canonically, Alahra isn’t much of a tank and instead defends herself with ninjutsu most of all (which is how Ninja tanks in FFXI did their jobs), and beyond that, she’s never looked great in most heavy armor (though her new haircut has made that better in some ways). With all that in mind, I decided to pull my Anemos Jacket out of storage and give using it a proper attempt. As it turns out, my issue with the jacket’s dyeing pattern is far more pronounced in the game’s fitting room window than it is with the item actually equipped, which made my job much easier.
Of course, the 2B items were set in stone, and so were Alahra’s glasses (though I could have easily swapped in the Scion Rogue’s Bandana for something more NieR: Automata-appropriate). All I really needed to settle on was a pair of gloves. At first I tried out the Scion Traveler’s Gloves, since I rather liked them with the Gaganaskin Jacket of Aiming for that recent look. They didn’t mesh as well with this version of the jacket neither in black nor their base color, though, so I instead took a page from Lynahra’s recent ensemble for Gunbreaker instead, relying on the Gazelleskin Bracers.
While this would be a questionable look to take into the next Main Scenario chapter (where I’d be more likely to default to my Fireglass Vest look from a little while ago), 5.2 is likely a good two months or more away, so I’ve got plenty of time to enjoy 2B’s boots on my main until then. I’ll be keeping my eye out for other options until then (praying perhaps for a surprise Mog Station update that gives me the perfect top by some miracle) and hoping that the next patch gives me something I can use more permanently. (I suppose it’s possible we also see new glamour rewards from the upcoming Blue Mage content, but I rate that as unlikely at the moment!).
