After farming Copied Factory to the point of fatigue to pick up the Ninja shorts that I never ended up using (for glamour, anyway), I’ve been taking my runs of the new Alliance raid pretty casually for the sake of my sanity. I’ve stopped targeting specific pieces, and I tend to just roll on something that looks interesting (or, if it’s the last boss, something to shore up item levels on alt jobs just in case I feel like playing them). I’ve picked up several of the body pieces now as a result, but the most interesting thing I’ve won from a glamour standpoint has been the YorHA Type-51 Halfslops of Maiming.
It’s not often we see skirts for the game’s armored classes—with most of them being Aiming or Healing gear—so the YorHA piece for Dragoon stands out for that alone, but on top of that it’s also a solid miniskirt, which is another thing that’s not so common in FFXIV. It also has some cool mesh components in the front (with the brown area actually being translucent), although the glamour I ended up putting together doesn’t show that fact off very well. All of this makes the piece one of the most interesting to come out of Copied Factory, and I wish they had used it for more roles instead of using the 2B Leggings as many times as they did.
Glamour Components (Requirements: DRG 80, Female)
Weapon: Augmented Scaevan Magitek Spear (Metallic Silver)
Head: Reading Glasses
Body: Hooded Fireglass Leather Vest (Jet Black)
Hands: Molybdenum Armguards of Maiming (Jet Black)
Legs: YorHA Type-51 Halfslops of Maiming (Jet Black)
Feet: No.2 Type B Boots (Jet Black)
Along with the halfslops, I’ve also picked up the corresponding jacket from Copied Factory for Dragoon, and my first attempt at a glamour involved using them both. I quickly soured on the body piece, though, as it has really puffy sleeves, which is one of those things I can never quite get behind. Using it for a little while did lead me to the Molybdenum Armguards, though, and those made it all the way to the glamour’s final stages. Naturally, it was going to take something of a miracle to make me abandon Alahra’s glasses or her current foot-wear obsession, so those were easy matters to address, too.
But I still needed some sort of top to go with the skirt, and there were honestly a rather large number of them that I thought worked well. In addition to the Fireglass Vest that I settled on in the end, I thought the Voeburtite Jacket of Maiming worked well with it, as did some old favorites in the Direwolf Cuirass and Wolfram Cuirass from A Realm Reborn. I considered the Anemos Jacket, too (to make something of a companion piece to my recent tank glamours), along with the possibility of the new Replica Sky Pirate’s Vest of Aiming. In the end, the Fireglass top won out mainly because I’d been wanting to combine it with a skirt for quite some time, and the YorHA Halfslops were the first one that had the right cut and length for my eyes.
I know better than to say this will be the last NieR glamour at this point, especially since I’m still trying to get my hands on one final piece for a Ninja glamour I’ve got in mind. Maybe that’ll happen with this next week’s lockout, but I’m definitely not going to be doing any dedicated farming for it like I did for Ninja’s version of the halfslops I used today (which are so much less interesting than the skirt Dragoon gets!). I feel like I’ve about exhausted the possibilities for looks really designed to show off 2B’s boots as well. I don’t think I’ll be abandoning them any time soon, but they’re starting to feel “normal” for Alahra in the way her glasses do, so they’ve graduated from new curiosity to staple.
