Glamour Spotlight: Monk #15

I’ve had Artifact sets on the brain recently. Though we’re not yet to Patch 5.2, part of me is already looking forward to Patch 5.3 because that’s when we’ll hopefully see the addition of A Realm Reborn to the New Game Plus system. Back before the system was first introduced, I got the idea to do a “canon” run of the entire story, changing jobs in accordance with the poster job for each major version (so, at present, Warrior, Dragoon, Monk, Samurai, and Dark Knight).

Along with that, I’d like to figure out a period-appropriate Artifact glamour for each of those jobs, rather than using sets wholesale. While that goal is a long way off (I don’t expect Patch 5.3 to drop until sometime in June), the thought was on my mind as I sat down once again to sort out a new Striking glamour. After some unsuccessful attempts to put together another “casual” look with a Moonfire Happi, I ended up fiddling with the Anemos Pacifist’s Vest instead, which was one of my favorite pieces from Stormblood.

Glamour Components (Requirements: MNK 70)
Weapon: Emperor’s New Fists
Head: Reading Glasses (Ul Brown)
Body: Anemos Pacifist’s Vest (Pure White)
Hands: Replica Sky Rat Fingerless Gloves of Casting (Charcoal Grey)
Legs: Skallic Bottoms of Striking (Slate Grey)
Feet: Dravanian Thighboots of Striking

To begin with, I went back to the first look I put together with the dyeable version of the vest, but I knew from the start that I didn’t want to stop there, mostly because I had a glamouring itch. Since that original glamour I’d only used the body one other time, for a male miqo’te glamour during my short-lived series of Fantasia Spotlights. That one did introduce me to a new pair of gloves for the vest in the Sky Rat Fingerless Gloves of Striking, though, and with the new all classes replicas for the Sky Rat gear, I was able to swap in the Casting version (in Charcoal Grey to match the boots) instead for the gold studs that better match the gold on the body piece.

I decided to stick with the Dravanian Thighboots, since they’re one of my favorite models (that I find only rare opportunities to use) and because they’re just plain perfect for the vest in white. But at the same time I knew I wanted to get away from the Coeurl Beach Tanga I’d used before—something with just a hint of more coverage seemed far more appropriate. As a result I quickly dismissed the idea of using the No.2 Type B Leggings, instead moving to the Gryphonskin Pantalettes.

Those seemed to work well enough, and I went to get started on pictures, only to be struck with the sudden memory of the Skallic Bottoms of Striking, which seemed like they would work much better for what I wanted. That turned out to be true, once they were the right shade of grey, which locked in the final glamour (outside of a last minute decision to go for Ul Brown glasses instead of the normal silver ones). If Alahra has a “canon” Monk glamour at all, it’s probably something like this one, though I’m not sure if it’s the one I would want to use for the Main Scenario run I’ve got in mind or not. That’s a good while away for now, anyway, though!
